The new Golfers Magazine includes a 2 page spread of golf fitness.
In this edition, I feature the TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) screening.
The TPI screen is a simple test.
It can be done by golfers of any ability.
This test is valuable for recreative and professional golfers.
The TPI test quickly evaluates a player’s physical capabilities. The results of that assessment are used to determine how technical elements of the player’s swing could be related to what their body can or cannot do.
So if a golfer's physical limitations match certain technical "faults" in the golfswing (we call them swing characteristics), we suggest that the body's movement capabilities could be affecting swing mechanics. They can work around the limitation or work in the gym to improve that. The work in the gym matters because most swing characteristics have a high risk of injury, worsens one longevity and impedes results in the game.
For over a decade, I have had the pleasure of guiding hundreds of golfers with the TPI screen.
I highly value the Titleist Performance Institute Certification (and its community!) which I have actively hold since 2011, including Junior level 3 and Fitness level 3 certifications.
